ABOUT
FRIENDSHIP FORCE
The Friendship Force
seeks to create a more peaceful world.
Its strategy is to provide opportunities for people
of different nations, cultures, histories, and
aspirations to come together in situations which
promote personal friendships - it believes that
"A World of Friends is a World of Peace!".
To this end we arrange week-long home-stays sharing
experiences in all aspects of the host country's
life.
We are very privileged
to have the mayor of the City of Winnipeg, His
Worship Sam Katz, as an honourary member.
OUR FOUNDING
MEMBER
Gail Bell became involved with
Friendship Force in 1978 in Great Falls, MT when
550 members from Montana traveled to Korea and
participated in the Friendship Force Mission and
traveled the following year with another large group to
Japan.
After
a move to Winnipeg with her job in 1995 Gail needed
a Friendship Force presence in Winnipeg and set
about to create a club in Winnipeg. Her attendance
to Montreal International Conference in 1996 gave
her a future incentive to bring her ideas to reality.
In 1997 with help of progressive like minded, energetic
Winnipegers the idea of Friendship Force in Winnipeg
came together. Some of the founding members,
Aruna Hall and Elsie Hannaford, are still active with
the club, although Gail's job took
her back to the USA. She has since retired
and now lives in Bozeman, MT.
